Guides for pro cycling team operations

Practical guides for the people who plan a professional cycling team's season: team operations, sports directors and staff. Each guide starts with the short answer, explains the planning questions, lists the UCI rules that matter, with sources, and ends with a checklist.

Planning the season, part by part

Team car and fleet planning

Which team car, bus or truck goes to which race, who drives it, what stays at the service course, and what the UCI convoy rules mean for the number of cars in a race.

Read the fleet guide

Staff planning

Who goes to which race in which role: sports directors, soigneurs, mechanics and doctors across an overlapping programme, with the minimum staff the UCI requires per team category.

Bike and equipment tracking

Bikes, wheels and parts by type and serial number, who has what, in- and out-of-service dates, the race truck, and the UCI rules that make the team responsible for its equipment.

How the guides are written

Short answer first, sources last

Every guide opens with the short answer, so you know in two sentences what the planning comes down to. It then walks through the questions a planner has to answer, sets out the UCI rules that apply, quoting the article and the version of the UCI Cycling Regulations it comes from, and ends with a checklist you can use before a race week.

Where a guide explains how something works in VelOps, it only describes what VelOps does today. Each guide lists its sources with the date they were consulted, and is updated when the rules change.

See it with your own races

VelOps is team management and race logistics software for professional cycling teams (men's, women's and development squads): a back office for races, selections, travel, staff and team cars, plus a rider app. We'll show it with your own races and roles as the example, in a 30-minute demo, in person or online.
